IPL 2021: Kulwant Khejroliya replaces injured Manimaran Siddharth in Delhi camp
The second phase of IPL 2021 is just beginning in a few days of time and the first match will take place between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals have announced that pacer Kulwant Khejroliya will replace left arm leg spinner Manimaran Siddharth. Siddharth has been ruled out of the remaining phase of IPL 2021 due to a quadriceps strain that occurred to him during the training session in Dubai.
It has to be noted that Khejroliya is already a part of the Delhi Capitals’ squad as a net bowler and has taken 17 wickets in 15 T20 matches at an average of 23.29. He has also represented RCB in the IPL 2018 and 2019 seasons where he picked three wickets in a total of five games he played.
As Manimaran is ruled out due to an injury, the DC support staff is currently monitoring his rehab programme in the Gulf nation. He will leave for India anytime soon and will continue to undergo rehab and in the same light, the DC family has wished him a speedy recovery.
Kulwant Khejroliya has made a name for himself in the domestic circuit
Khejroliya made his List A debut for Delhi during the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. It was in October 2018 during the quarter-finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 that he picked a hat-trick for Delhi while playing against Haryana. It remains to be seen if he will be able to get in playing XI of Delhi’s squad in the remaining phase of IPL 2021.
Talking about DC’s journey in IPL 2021 so far, they are sitting at the top slot in the points table with six victories in the eight games. Rishabh Pant was leading the franchise in the Indian leg of IPL 2021 as regular skipper Shreyas Iyer got ruled out due to a shoulder injury. However, Iyer is back to the DC Camp and it remains to be seen if will get back his captaincy or Pant will continue leading the side.
Delhi are yet to win their maiden IPL Trophy and reached the finale of the tournament for the first time in IPL 2020.
