IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians unveil their new jersey ahead of the season

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians will be looking to create history when they take the field in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The two-time defending champions can become the first team in the history of the IPL to win the title thrice in a row. No other team has managed to achieve this incredible record so far.

Last year, the Rohit Sharma-led side became just the second team after Chennai Super Kings to defend the IPL title. Mumbai Indians also became the first team to win the tournament five times after they beat Delhi Capitals in the final. No other team has managed to win the IPL more than three times. Mumbai looked almost invincible last season as they blew the oppositions away to clinch the title.

The five-time winners will be one of the firm favourites for IPL 2021 too. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, and several other big names in their ranks, Mumbai have a formidable team. They will start their campaign on April 9 with a mouthwatering clash against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians’ new jersey

Ahead of the new season, Mumbai Indians have unveiled their new jersey. The franchise took to Twitter to post a video to unveil their new jersey for IPL 2021. The jersey features Mumbai Indians’ trademark shades of blue and gold. After wearing a light-blue jersey for the first two years in the IPL, Mumbai Indians have been sporting jersey with darker shades of blue since 2010.

The change in jersey colour that year had paid rich dividends as they made it to the IPL final for the first time. Since then the reigning IPL champions have continued to dominate the IPL while wearing the dark-blue jersey. Just like the old jersey, the new jersey also has golden patterns on the shoulder and the sides. But unlike the old jersey, the new jersey has orange border at the end of the sleeve as well as under the collar.
