IPL

The IPL 2021 in India was suspended midway due to the coronavirus breaching the IPL bio bubble. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has decided to complete the remainder of the tournament in the UAE. The decision was taken in the Special General Meeting (SGM) conducted by the BCCI. The T20 league will be played in the September-October window.

Speaking to ANI, an anonymous source said, “There have been talks with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and they are happy to host the remaining IPL in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi like last time. The BCCI will speak to the foreign boards to decide on the availability of the foreign players.”

The BCCI will also seek more time from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to conduct the T20 World Cup in India. The ICC will be meeting on 1st June to decide on the matter. They may have to defer the decision of moving the October 18-November 15 tournament out of India in view of the BCCI’s request. The BCCI will be exploring all the possibilities to host it in India itself.
