IPL 2021: Sanjay Bangar named RCB’s batting consultant
India’s former batting coach Sanjay Bangar has now joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as a batting consultant. He will be serving Virat Kohli’s team in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in 2021. The former India batsman will now be a part of the coaching team formed by Mike Hesson, the director of cricket operations for RCB, and Simon Katich, the head coach.

Bangar served as the batting coach of India from August 2014 with Ravi Shastri being appointed as the team director. The all-rounder continued his stint until India’s eventful exit from the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup. In the IPL, Bangar has previously worked as the head coach of Kings XI Punjab.
With the IPL auction just a week away, this comes as an important development for the Bangalore side. Kohli’s men are yet to win their maiden IPL title. They released 10 of their players ahead of the auction, including 5 overseas players. The auction is set to be held on 18th February.
