IPL 2021: Shreevats Goswami feels Akash Deep is a ‘great signing’ by RCB

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side has signed right-arm pace bowler Akash Deep for the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that will commence on 19th September 2021. Akash Deep will replace Washington Sundar in the side.

Sundar is currently suffering from a finger injury. Sundar sustained the injury in a practice match before the Test series between England and India. Sundar has not completely recovered from this injury, and as a result, has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2021.

In fact, the RCB side released an official statement stating that Sundar will not take part in the second half of IPL 2021, and Akash Deep will replace him in the side for the UAE leg.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore’s all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2021 due to a finger injury. Akash Deep, a state cricketer from Bengal and net bowler with the franchise has been named as a replacement,” read the statement released by RCB.

Shreevats Goswami is excited about the fact that the Virat Kohli-led Bangalore side has signed Akash Deep. Stating that Akash Deep is a gun bowler who can clock speeds in excess of 140 kmph, Goswami added that Akash Deep is fit and strong. Goswami concluded by stating that he hopes that the right arm pacer gets a chance to showcase his worth.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore side experienced a good run in the first half of IPL 2021. The Bangalore side is currently occupying 3rd place in the points table and has won 5 out of the 7 matches that it has played in the tournament. Akash Deep has not yet played an IPL match.
