IPL 2022: CSK vs DC Preview – Chennai aim to spoil Delhi’s party

MS Dhoni

The Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns with the Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on May 8. Both teams will be heading into this clash on the back of contrasting results. While CSK went down to the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 13 runs, DC got the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs in a high-scoring encounter.

The defending champions have had a season to forget so far. They have lost seven out of their 10 games and even though the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been reappointed as the captain, it is a bit too late as Chennai’s playoff qualification hopes are over. The bowling was good to some extent against RCB as they got rid of the top-order early before the middle-order’s counter-attack changed the complexion of the match. The batters barring Devon Conway, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled to get going.

Delhi, on the other hand, have blown hot and cold. However, it was a well-deserved win in the last match against SRH that saw spectacular knocks from David Warner and Rovman Powell who scored unbeaten 92 runs from 58 deliveries and 35-ball 67 respectively that propelled the Capitals to a mammoth 207/3. The bowlers then applied the pressure on SRH batters and succeeded in having them on the mat despite valiant knocks from Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran. The pacers made their presence felt as Khaleel Ahmed’s 3/30 and Shardul Thakur’s 2/44 were more than good enough in helping Delhi Capitals get back to winning ways.
