IPL 2022: KKR vs MI Review – Kolkata pull off a stunning win against Mumbai

Kolkata Knight Riders finally managed to get their playing XI right and this might be the combination for them moving forward in the tournament as they registered a terrific win against Mumbai Indians by 52 runs. Mumbai could not get the best of starts in their run chase and lost skipper Rohit Sharma in a controversial ultra-edge decision while wickets kept falling around Ishan Kishan (51 off 43). None of the other batters could get going as Mumbai succumbed to their ninth defeat in the season.

Earlier in the day, KKR were put into bat first by Rohit Sharma and the side were off to a great start with Venkatesh Iyer (43 off 24) going after the bowling. The Shreyas Iyer-led side reached 50 in no time and laid the foundation for a big score. However, an excellent bowling display towards the end by Jasprit Bumrah ensured that KKR could not finish on a high.

Top Performers of the game

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for the Mumbai Indians as the speedster picked up a five wicket which restricted the Kolkata Knight Riders from posting a big score. The right-arm quick rattled KKR and finished with extraordinary figures of 5 for 10 in quota with one maiden as well.

Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins returned to the playing XI for Kolkata Knight Riders and he immediately made an impact for the side. The Australian finished with 3 for 22 in his four-over spell and picked up the important wicket of half-centurion Ishan Kishan who was looking to take the game away from the KKR side.

What next for the two teams

Mumbai Indians will next be up against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on May 12 while the Kolkata Knight Riders will next take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 14 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
