IPL 2022: LSG vs KKR Review – Kolkata bow out in a last-over thriller

Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2022 with the victory against the KKR side by just two runs in a thrilling encounter in Match 66 of IPL 2022. Chasing 211 to win, KKR did not have the best of starts with losing both openers Venkatesh Iyer and Abhijeet Tomar quickly while Nitish Rana (42) and Shreyas Iyer (50) stitched an excellent partnership in quick time. Sam Billings (36) continued the assault once Rana perished, however it was down to an excellent finish from Sunil Narine (21*) and Rinku Singh (40) in the end which still could not take the side home.

Earlier in the day, it was a complete carnage from the LSG openers after winning the toss as they took the KKR bowlers to the cleaners with the highest opening partnership in IPL history. While Quinton de Kock (140*) reached his century, KL Rahul played second fiddle and remained unbeaten on 68 to take his side to a huge total of 210 on the board in the first innings.

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock was in terrific touch with the bat for the Lucknow Super Giants and he made a merry of the KKR bowling attack. The left-hander brought up his second century in IPL tournament and remained unbeaten on 140 off 70 deliveries while setting up a huge total. He hit ten fours and as many sixes in the process and registered the highest individual score in the IPL.

Mohsin Khan

Mohsin Khan was the standout bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants as he started with a terrific opening bowling spell. The left-arm pacer finished with 3 for 20 in his four over spell in a high-scoring encounter and certainly stood out tall from the other bowlers.

Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2022 while the Kolkata Knight Riders have been knocked out of the tournament.
