IPL 2022: MI vs CSK Review – MS Dhoni pulls off a heist for Chennai

Mumbai Indians were left heartbroken after a close encounter went to Chennai Super, thanks to a brilliant finish from MS Dhoni, who turned back the clock by chasing the target with his team needing 17 off the last over. CSK lost Pretorius off the very first delivery and it was down to Dhoni to finish. He brought it down to 4 needed off the last delivery and smashed one on his legs to bring up the second victory for CSK this season.

After losing the toss, Mumbai was put into bat first and they lost the openers Rohit and Kishan cheaply. Suryakumar Yadav and Dewalid Brevis went early as well to leave Mumbai at 47 for 4 at one stage. However, Tilak Varma anchored the innings with a well-made unbeaten 51 alongside contributions from youngster Hrithik Shokeen and senior pacer Jaydvev Unadkat to take the side to a decent total of 155, which was chased down on the last ball of the innings.

Mukesh Choudhary had a fantastic outing with the ball for the Chennai Super Kings as he picked up two early wickets and sent Mumbai on back foot early. The pacer got rid of both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the first over with brilliant deliveries and finished with 3 for 19 in his three overs. The youngster has definitely made a mark already and will be looking to continue the good work.

Daniel Sams

Defending a par score, Mumbai needed early wickets and they got it from Daniel Sams who straightaway excelled in his comeback game. The seamer picked up 4 for 30 in his four-over spell and gave important breakthroughs whenever the team needed. He was unfortunate to end up on the losing side despite performing of the highest quality.

Mumbai Indians will take on the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium on April 24 while the Chennai Super Kings will battle it out against the Punjab Kings on the 25th of April at the Wankhede Stadium.
