IPL 2022: PBKS vs CSK Review – Dhawan leads Punjab to glory in clash of Kings

Chennai Super Kings suffered their sixth loss of the season at the hands of Punjab Kings as MS Dhoni’s heroics did not take over this game. Chasing a big total, the CSK openers struggled to get going in the powerplay and lost three wickets quickly. However, Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja kept the side in the hunt with an excellent partnership. Dhoni did give a scare in the last over but some fantastic death bowling from Punjab bowlers sealed the deal by 11 runs in the end.

Earlier, Punjab Kings were put in to bat first by Ravindra Jadeja and CSK managed to remove the skipper Mayank Agarwal early. However, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa managed to form a crucial partnership of 110 runs in the middle for the second wicket. Liam Livingstone provided the perfect finish to end up with a huge score of 187 on the board.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan played a brilliant innings at the top of the order for the Punjab Kings and anchored the innings for his side on a wicket that did offer a bit for the spinners. The left-hander remained unbeaten on 88 off just 59 deliveries that included nine fours and two sixes and laid the foundation for a big total in the end.

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu played a mind-blowing innings for the Chennai Super Kings and was unfortunate to end up on the losing side. The right-hander got going straightaway after coming to the crease and brought hopes back for the CSK side in their run chase. He perished after a well-made 39-ball 78 that included six sixes and seven fours.

What next for the two teams

Punjab Kings will next play the Lucknow Super Giants at the MCA Stadium in Pune on 29th April while the Chennai Super Kings will be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
