IPL 2022: RR vs RCB Review – Karthik leads Bangalore’s epic comeback

Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their second victory of the season with a stunning run chase of 170 against the Rajasthan Royals, completed with five balls left in the innings. Dinesh Karthik (44*) and Shahbaz Ahmed (45) played a gem of an innings and steered the side to a fantastic victory. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a brilliant spell of 2 for 15 in his four overs but ended up on the losing side.

Earlier, the Rajasthan Royals lost the early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal but recovered well with an important partnership between Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal for the second wicket. Skipper Sanju Samson could not do much of a damage but Shimron Hetmyer and Jos Buttler finished the innings positively with some lusty hits towards the back end. The total at the half-way mark did look good until RCB managed to find a way out in their chase.

Shahbaz Ahmed

While Dinesh Karthik showed his experience, Shahbaz Ahmed played a memorable innings, a 26-ball 45, and proved his worth. He hit four fours and three sixes in his quickfire knock and shifted the momentum in favour of RCB. The youngster also played a game-changing innings in a low-scoring run chase against KKR and is certainly getting his name up in the reckonings.

Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler continued his excellent form in IPL 2022 with an unbeaten 70 off just 47 deliveries and helped his side to a good score. The right-hander finished with six sixes in his innings but he did struggle early to understand the wicket. He moved to the top of the race for the orange cap in the process as well.

What next for the two teams

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will next be up against the Mumbai Indians on the 9th of April at the MCA Stadium in Pune while the Rajasthan Royals will take on the Lucknow Super Giants on the 10th of April at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
