IPL 2022: SRH vs CSK Preview – Chennai hope for a revival under MSD

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a group stage encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on May 1 (Sunday).

Both SRH and CSK are having a contrasting tournament. While SRH is in the third spot in the points table with five wins in eight matches, the Yellow Army is languishing in the ninth spot with just two victories in eight matches. The Orange Army had a poor start to the tournament after losing their first two matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

However, SRH staged an excellent comeback and won five matches on the trot before losing their last encounter against the new entrants Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, CSK is having a tournament to forget. The Men in Yellow have so far beaten only Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

The defending champions will have their task cut out against the in-form Orange Army and will have to give their 100% on the field if they want to get two points. SRH, on other hand, will want to beat the defending champions and get back to winning ways.

Here’s the predicted XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Super Kings:

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Despite losing their previous contest, the Orange Army will want to stick to the same playing XI, considering their last encounter was a hard-fought one and could have to go in their favor as well.

Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Chennai Super Kings

All-rounder Dwaine Pretorius gave away 50 runs in his four-over quota in the last match and did not contribute much with the bat as well. But he deserves more chances given that he played a crucial role in a win against MI. Moreover, even CSK is not a time that will make many changes.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Mitchell Santner, Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius/Chris Jordan, Mukesh Choudhary, Maheesh Theekshana
