IPL 2022: SRH vs PBKS Preview – Punjab and Hyderabad aim for a sweet finish

The final group stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings. The encounter will take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 22 (Sunday). To note, both teams will want to win their final group stage match and give themselves a strong chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Talking about their standings in the points table, PBKS are currently placed seventh in the table with six wins in 13 matches. Meanwhile, the Orange Army is just one place below them with six wins in 13 matches. SRH managed to win their previous match against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

PBKS, on the other hand, lost their previous encounter at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) by a margin of 17 runs and they will look to rectify their mistakes in the upcoming match.

Here’s the probable playing XI of the SRH vs PBKS match:

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be without their permanent skipper Kane Williamson as the Kiwi batter has flown back home due to some personal reasons. The SRH management will now have a choice to make regarding their playing XI and choosing a captain as well. West Indies’ player Nicholas Pooran is the top candidate for the role.

Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (c and wk), Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Punjab Kings

Despite losing their previous match, the Kings from Punjab might field the same playing XI used against DC. PBKS batters will want to take more responsibility for their team and put up a good show against the SRH bowling line-up.

Jonny Bairstow, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Liam Livingstone, Mayank Agarwal (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Harpreet Brar, Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh
