IPL 2022: SRH vs RR Review – Rajasthan bulldoze Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a big loss at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals in the 5th match of IPL 2022 at the MCA stadium, Pune. The Royals were quite clinical in both the departments and ticked most of the boxes at the start of their campaign.

After winning the toss, the Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to field first and they conceded a huge score of 210, thanks to some extraordinary hitting from the Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson. Hetmyer’s quickfire 31 alongside a 29-ball 41 from Devdutt Padikkal were important contributions while the Sunrisers bowlers were taken to the cleaners.

In reply, the Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a horrific start, losing four wickets inside the powerplay. Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna bowled an outstanding new ball spell and dented the big run chase for the Williamson-led side. However, a quickfire cameo from Washington Sundar and a half-century from Aiden Markram helped Sunrisers to bring down the margin of defeat to 61 runs.

Top Performers

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson had a fantastic outing and he continued his good touch from the recent T20Is against Sri Lanka. The right-hander started the assault for RR, hitting five sixes and three fours in his 27-ball 55 and laid the foundation for a huge score.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was bought into the setup by the Royals with a specific plan to create damage in the middle overs and he played the role perfectly. The leg-spinner bowled some beautiful lengths and finished with figures of 3 for 22.

Rajasthan Royals will take on the Mumbai Indians in their next encounter at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on April 2 while the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be up against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on April 4.
