IPL 2023: 3 Players DC might pick at the auction

The mini-auction of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) edition is a few days away and the buzz and excitement are already on amongst the cricketing fans. The auction is slated to take place on Friday, December 23, 2022, in Kochi, India. Delhi Capitals have reached the finals only once in the 2020 campaign and would look to end the title drought in 2023. Ahead of the auction, DC might be tempted to secure the services of a few talented and exciting players

Let’s take a look at the 3 cricketers DC might pick at the 2023 IPL auction:

Rilee Rossouw

Rilee Rossouw can be a great backup option for Mitchell Marsh at no. three position for DC. Considering Marsh’s injury issues, Rossouw could be a handy option in this setup. The explosive South African has played IPL before for RCB in 2014 and 2015. He is the only player amongst the full members to hit tons in two consecutive innings in T20Is. Both of his hundreds came this year against India in bilateral series and against Bangladesh in the T20 WC. He has also been in good form in 2022 as he is the leading run-scorer for the Proteas with 372 runs at an average of 46.50 and a strike rate of 176.30. Also, he will play for the sister franchise Pretoria Capitals in the upcoming SA20 league.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green is the most sought-after player for the upcoming mini-auction. His exploits in the T20I series against India in India before the T20 World Cup caught the eye of many cricketing experts and pundits. The all-rounder from Australia is a hard-hitting batter who can play at any position in the line-up including the opening slot. Green could well be a perfect backup for his countryman Mitchell Marsh considering his seam bowling. With DC’s top-order packed with David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishabh Pant, Green will be more than a useful option in the middle-order which lacks some quality. With Ricky Ponting as their head coach, the chances of Green joining DC rise significantly.

Josh Inglis

Australia’s wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis could be a good addition to the DC line-up. The franchise has only one designated wicketkeeper in their squad in the form of skipper Rishabh Pant and may need to add another gloveman in their ranks. The 27-year-old right-handed player has smashed 2080 runs in 78 innings in T20s. His average and strike rate are 30.14 and 148.14 with the highest score of 118*. The Aussie has slammed two centuries and 13 half-centuries so far in all T20s. Having already represented Australia nine times in T20 internationals, Inglis might get a taste of the cash-rich league if DC go after him.
