IPL 2023: SRH vs RR Preview – Fortified Hyderabad face IPL 2022 finalists

The Indian Premier League season 16 has got off to a great start with the opening game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings treating the fans with a last-over thriller. The action will continue on Sunday, April 2 as Sunrisers Hyderabad will be up against Rajasthan Royals in Match 4 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Rajasthan had a dream season last year as they reached the final of the competition for the first time since winning the inaugural season way back in 2008. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad ended up finishing in the eighth spot with six wins to their name as they gave away their good start at the halfway stage where they were ranked in the top two positions.

The two sides have been involved in neck-to-neck battles in the history of the competition as both teams have won eight matches each out of 16 games played against each other.

Pitch and Conditions

There have been a total of two T20Is played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, with teams chasing winning on both occasions. The ground has traditionally been a high scoring one as batters enjoy their time out in the middle. The captain winning the toss will look to bat first and take full advantage of the good batting conditions by putting runs on the board to bring the opposition under pressure.

Last T20I played at the venue – Australia – 186/7 | India – 187/4 19.5 overs

Here’s the Probable Playing XI for Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals clash

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad have traditionally been a good bowling side hence they added firepower to their batting at the mini-auction and bought the likes of Harry Brook, Heinrich Klaasen and Mayank Agarwal. They will be led by Aiden Markram in the upcoming season who will look to replicate his success at SA20 where he led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to a title win.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan will be once again led by Sanju Samson who took them to the final of the competition in 2022. They bought big names such as Joe Root, Jason Holder, and Adam Zampa at the mini-auction to reinforce their squad. Rajasthan will rely on their star players to deliver to put up another strong performance this year.
