IPL Buzz: SunRisers Hyderabad appoint Brad Haddin as assistant coach

2016 IPL champions SunRisers Hyderabad have named Brad Haddin as their assistant coach for the upcoming season. The Australian will replace fellow countryman Simon Helmot, who earlier assisted former coach Tom Moody.

The ex wicket-keeper-batsman will now join new head coach Trevor Bayliss in the coaching team. Both Haddin and Bayliss have worked together on numerous occasions in the past. In 2012, the Sydney Sixers won the Champions League T20 with the former as captain and Bayliss as the coach. The duo has also been involved with the Kolkata Knight Riders in different capacities across seasons.

Having had playing experience in the IPL and coaching stints with Cricket Australia, Haddin will be a key addition to the SunRisers setup. His analytical mindset will help add a new dimension to the team’s strategy going forward. With a brand-new coaching staff, they will be hoping to add another trophy to their cabinet in the next edition.

Haddin made his international debut in 2001 and went on to play 126 ODIs, 66 Tests and 34 T20Is for Australia. In a career that spanned almost 15 years, he became one of the key members of the senior team. In the 2013-14 Ashes, his first-innings contribution helped Australia complete a dominating clean sweep over their rivals.
