Ishant Sharma 0/66 vs CSK (2013)

In the 54th match of the IPL 2013, Chennai Super Kings took on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad, led by Kumar Sangakkara, won the toss and elected to field first. Coming in to bat, Chennai put in a magnificent performance, and that was the game when Indian pacer Ishant Sharma registered the third-most expensive spell in IPL history. Sharma conceded 66 runs and did not manage to take a single wicket. He had an economy of 16.5 in that game, and as Chennai posted 223 runs on the board, Hyderabad only managed to reply with a score of 146 in the second innings as they lost the game.

Yash Dayal 0/69 vs KKR (2023)

The 13th match of the IPL 2023 featured a fiery clash between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad. Gujarat came into bat and posted 204 runs on the board. Chasing the target, Kolkata Knight Riders put on a show as Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana, and Venkatesh Iyer completed a thrilling run chase. However, it was a night to forget for the Gujarat lineup, and especially Yash Dayal, who conceded 69 runs in four overs and did not take a single wicket. His spell proved to be the second most expensive spell in IPL history so far.

Basil Thampi 0/70 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (2018)

The record for the most expensive spell in IPL history belongs to Indian pacer Basil Thampi, who conceded 70 runs in four overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore back in the IPL 2018. Batting first, RCB notched up 218 runs on the board, and Thampi’s spell proved to be vital for Bangalore as Sunrisers Hyderabad managed 204 runs in the run chase and lost the game.
