IPL: Most titles won as player

Ambati Rayudu

MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched their record-equalling fifth IPL title after triumphing over defending champions Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final. Impressively, legendary CSK skipper MS Dhoni lifted his fifth title as a captain and as a player in the history of the top-tier league. On that note, we take a look at the top three most titles won as a player in the IPL-

3. Lasith Malinga, Ravindra Jadeja | 4

The CSK star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja steered his side to magnificent victory after proving his mettle in the final two balls of the clash, slamming a six and four to win the title. In the process, Jadeja got on level terms with MI legendary pacer Lasith Malinga, with four titles secured as a player, with the Mumbai Indians.

2. MS Dhoni, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya | 5

MS Dhoni reached his 11th final as skipper (10 with CSK and one with Rising Pune Supergiant), however, the 41-year-old claimed his fifth title as a player following the win against Gujarat Titans. Notably, former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard and GT skipper Hardik Pandya too have as many titles and are joint-second in this elite list. While Pollard has clinched five titles playing for the Men in Blue and Gold throughout his IPL career, Hardik has won it with Mumbai four times and once with Gujarat in 2022.

1. Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu | 6

Rohit Sharma won his first trophy in 2009 with Deccan Chargers (now defunct) and later clinched the title as a skipper on five occasions with Mumbai. With this, he became the only cricketer to have the most number of titles in the IPL as a player.

However, with CSK winning the IPL 2023, seasoned batter Ambati Rayudu equalled the record with six titles to his account in his decade-long career in the IPL. Rayudu has donned the Mumbai and Chennai outfit, winning three titles with both heavyweight franchises.
