Irfan Pathan says he has moved on long back from his shortened India career

Irfan Pathan is certainly one of the finest all-rounders to have played for India, and his records speak volumes of his prowess. The left-arm pacer could swing the ball both ways and many potent batters have been victims of his brilliance. Pathan also played several sensational knocks batting lower down the order. As far as his numbers are concerned, the Baroda-born all-rounder scored 2,821 runs and scalped 301 wickets in international cricket.

Although these stats aren’t ordinary by any standards, many believe that Pathan should have achieved much more. The all-rounder didn’t play for India after 2012 despite doing well in national colours. In fact, Pathan’s last ODI match saw him taking a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. While many fans still wonder why Pathan didn’t get more chances, the all-rounder has moved on from that episode.

Replying to a Twitter user on Friday (July 31), the southpaw asserted that his cricket career doesn’t concern him anymore. It all started when Harsha Bhogle made a cheeky post, referring to India’s recent T20I series loss against Sri Lanka.

I’m no more living in the past: Irfan Pathan

After coming across the former Indian all-rounder’s reaction, a fan expressed his displeasure of not seeing Pathan playing for India after 2012. Notably, the Baroda-born cricketer was just 27 during his last international game. Highlighting the same, the netizen recalled some of Pathan’s match-winning performances from the 2012 Sri Lanka tour.

For the unversed, Pathan retired from all forms of cricket in January 2020. Since then, he has been an active commentator and gave his voice in several games. The former all-rounder is known for his outspoken nature as he doesn’t hesitate in making bold statements.
