John Cena shares MS Dhoni’s picture on Instagram

WWE heartthrob John Cena posted a picture of former India skipper MS Dhoni on his official Instagram account. This is not the first instance of Cena posting a picture of an Indian celebrity; he has previously posted caption-less pictures of Bollywood actors as well as the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

In his recent post, Dhoni can be seen walking down the stairs towards someone offering a handshake, although the frame has only him captured. While Cena’s posts seemed cryptic to some, a few guessed it to be a depiction of his renowned signature step ‘You can’t see me’, a taunt to his rivals after flattening them inside the wrestling arena.

MS Dhoni was recently active with the Chennai Super Kings in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, where he led his team to their fourth title, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders in the decisive clash on October 14. Following that, Dhoni joined the Indian team at the 2021 T20 World Cup as a mentor, although the team’s campaign ended prematurely as they were knocked out of contention in the league stage.

Dhoni, who led India to ICC event victories thrice – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cu and 2013 Champions Trophy – was appointed as the team mentor by the BCCI in an unseen, one-off move, given his staggering wealth of experience.

Ever since the Champions Trophy triumph, an ICC trophy has eluded India, who have lost the 2014 T20 World Cup final to Sri Lanka, 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final to West Indies, 2017 Champions Trophy final to Pakistan, 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cup semi-finals to Australia and New Zealand, respectively, apart from the World Test Championship final to New Zealand earlier this year.

The team has a chance to buckle up as the next T20 World Cup takes place in less than a year in Australia, although India will have a new captain leading them after Kohli stepped down upon the conclusion of the 2021 edition.
