At the age of 25, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is one of the leading fast bowlers in the world. He occupies the fifth spot in both ODI and Test bowling rankings. The pacer would have been plying his trade for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020, however, the coronavirus pandemic has thwarted all such plans. Rabada recently interacted with Delhi Capitals fans through an Instagram live.

“I would’ve been ready for the IPL in March. I had a tear in my groin, but I healed quite quickly and believed I would have been able to play the IPL if it had started as scheduled,” Rabada said. “It was something I was really looking forward to, especially after last season’s performance which was, no doubt, a huge motivator for all of us. It was also by far the most enjoyable season I’ve been part of,” he added. Delhi Capitals finished third in the last IPL and lost to Chennai Super Kings in the second qualifier.

During the live session, Rabada was also asked about the legends he would have loved to bowl against. The youngster gave four names. “I think Kevin Pietersen, Sachin Tendulkar, Vivian Richards and Ricky Ponting would be the batsmen I would love to bowl to,” said the speedster. The South African made his international cricket debut in 2014, by which all of these legends had retired from the game.

Rabada also spoke on the proposal of playing without any audience in attendance. He found the idea ‘bizarre’ but if it allowed the game to move on then he was in agreement with it.
