KKR vs RR Review – Jaiswal, Chahal hammer Kolkata in a record-breaking night

Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, May 11. After Yuzvendra Chahal’s brilliant spell hauled Kolkata to a total of 149 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s exceptional knock propelled Rajasthan to a brilliant nine-wicket win with 41 balls to spare.

Coming in to bat first, Kolkata got off to a poor start. Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz only managed to score 10 and 18 runs on the board, respectively. Furthermore, skipper Nitish Rana failed to make an impact, as he was sent back for just 22 runs. Venkatesh Iyer showed resilience and scored 57 runs in 42 balls. His knock was crucial, as Kolkata posted 149 runs on the board after the first innings.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the highest wicket taker for Rajasthan, as he took four wickets and conceded 25 runs in four overs. Trent Boult took wickets, with Sandeep Sharma, and KM Asif striking once as well.

Coming in to chase the target, Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal played a knock for the ages, scoring the fastest half-century in the history of IPL. Jaiswal scored 98* runs in 47 deliveries and was accompanied by Sanju Samson who amassed 48* runs in 29 deliveries, taking his team to a statement-giving win.

Yuzvendra Chahal: Yuzvendra Chahal was just as influential for Rajasthan in the first innings, becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament. Chahal took four wickets and conceded just 25 runs in the four overs he bowled. He dismissed Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, and Shardul Thakur.
