Krunal Pandya welcomes first child with wife Pankhuri Sharma

India all-rounder Krunal Pandya and his better half Pankhuri welcomed their first child on Sunday, July, 24. Krunal has named the baby boy ‘Kavir’. The couple posted the picture of themselves and their newborn baby on Pandya’s official social media handles. His wife also reposted the picture on her official Instagram handle.

Krunal and Pankhuri got married on December 27, 2017. Meanwhile, on the professional front, unlike his younger brother Hardik, Krunal has been in and out of the Indian team all these years and currently has not been in the team management’s scheme of things since the conclusion of the IPL 2022. The southpaw was not included in the Indian squad for Ireland and then the subsequent England T20Is. He is not a part of the upcoming five-match series against the West Indies either.

Krunal Pandya’s cricketing career so far

While Krunal Pandya has not succeeded in cementing his place in the Indian side ever since his international debut back in November 2018, he has been featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) regularly since the 2016 edition. Pandya has been an integral part of the Mumbai Indians’ three title triumphs in the 2017, 2019, and 2020 editions.

MI parted ways with the Pandya brothers months ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. Krunal Pandya was roped in by the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants for the 15th edition of the marquee tournament. He had a decent season scoring 183 runs from 14 matches at a strike rate of 126.21 and registered 10 scalps to his name with the ball in hand at an economy of 6.97 with best bowling figures of 3/19. The KL Rahul-led side had a very good tournament as they made the playoffs before being knocked out by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.

As far as Krunal’s international career is concerned, he has so far represented India in five One Day Internationals scoring 130 runs and picking up just two wickets. The elder Pandya has also featured in 19 T20Is scoring 124 runs and taking 15 wickets. He would now be focused on reviving his white-ball career with an aim of donning the India jersey on a regular basis.
