Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan batsman Lahiru Thirimanne and the head coach Mickey Arthur have tested positive for coronavirus. The provisional squad comprising of 36 members was tested before they took off for the West Indies tour. The duo of Thirimanne and Arthur was detected positive following the PCR Tests carried out on 02nd February. The entire 36-member contingent consists of cricketers, coaching staff, net bowlers and other staff.

Upon identification, both Thirimanne and Arthur will now have to follow the Government’s health protocols laid out by the Sri Lankan government. The 36-member group has commenced practice on the 28th January, in three groups and at different time periods, as a precautionary health measure.

Considering the current situation, Sri Lankan Cricket is exploring the possibility of rescheduling the tour of West Indies, which was scheduled to begin on 20th Feb. 2021.
