LSG vs RCB Review – Bangalore emerge on top in a low-scorer at Lucknow

Royal Challengers Bangalore avenged their earlier loss against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023 as they beat the KL Rahul-led side by 18 runs on Monday, April 1 when the two sides locked horns in Lucknow. Even after restricting RCB a low total, LSG failed to chase the 127-run target

After opting to bat first, RCB could only manage to score 126/9 in their allotted 20 overs with captain Faf du Plessis top-scoring with his knock of 44 off 40 balls. In reply, LSG were bundled out for 108 as RCB’s bowlers rose to the occasion and helped their side register their fifth win of the season.

Earlier, RCB openers Virat Kohli (31 off 30) and du Plessis gave a decent start to RCB adding 62 runs for the first wicket off 54 balls. However, the rest of the batters couldn’t come to terms with the slowness of the wicket and RCB could only manage to reach 126/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Ravi Bishnoi (2/21), Krishnappa Gowtham (1/10, 2 overs), Amit Mishra (2/21, 3 overs), and Naveen-ul-Haq (3/30) were all amongst the wickets for LSG.

In the second innings, RCB’s bowlers came to the party and didn’t allow any LSG batter to settle in as they were all over them right from the word go. Josh Hazlewood (2/15, 3 overs), Karn Sharma (2/20), Mohammed Siraj (1/24, 3 overs), Glenn Maxwell (1/3, 1 over), Wanindu Hasaranga (1/20), and Harshal Patel (1/20, 3.5 overs) hunted in pairs and set up an 18-run win for their side.

Top Performers of the Match

Faf du Plessis: The RCB captain played a gutsy knock of 44 off 40 balls with the help of one four and a six in the first innings and took RCB to a fighting total of 126/9 on a slow surface.

Naveen-ul-Haq: The right-arm seamer was the pick of the bowlers for LSG as he picked 3/30 in his four-over spell. Naveen made sure that the good work done by the spinners didn’t go in vain and didn’t allow the tail to finish things on a high.
