Sam Curran smashed his maiden IPL fifty this season to help Punjab Kings score 214/8 while batting first and then Arshdeep Singh took two wickets in the last over while conceding just two runs to earn Punjab Kings two big points.

Rohit Sharma won the toss for Mumbai Indians and elected to bowl first at Wankhede Stadium. Matthew Short and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings for Punjab but the former walked off the pitch in the third over. Atharva Taide and Prabhsimran added quick 47 runs for the second wicket to give Punjab an impressive start but Arjun Tendulkar dismissed Prabhsimran while Piyush Chawla picked two wickets in the 10th over to thwart off early pressure.

Sam Curran played a captain’s knock by smashing 55 off 29 and Harpreet Singh added 41 runs to keep the pressure on Mumbai before Jitesh smashed 25 off seven with four sixes to guide Punjab to a 200-plus total.

While defending 214 runs, Arshdeep Singh dismissed in-form Ishan Kishan in the second over to give Punjab a perfect start. But Rohit and Cameron Green quickly balanced the game with a 76-run stand for the second wicket. Livingstone gave a breakthrough in the tenth over with Rohit’s wicket who scored 44 off 27.

But Green continued the chase with an aggressive approach along with Suryakumar Yadav. The duo added a 75-run stand for the third wicket with Green smashing 67 off 43 before getting out in the 16th over. Suryakumar also brought up his maiden fifty of IPL 2023 but was dismissed by Arshdeep in the 18th over. Arshdeep then further impressed with two back-to-back wickets in the last over to finish the game with four wickets.

Cameron Green: The Australian all-rounder pulled off another sensational knock as he smashed 67 off just 43. He also shone with a ball with two valuable wickets but was not able to guide his team to victory.
