Most dismissals as wicketkeeper in T20Is

The former Indian captain MS Dhoni did wonders with his leadership skills as he guided the Men in Blue to the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup glory. Regarded as one of the best captains in cricket history, Dhoni also set high standards with his remarkable wicketkeeping skills.

Dhoni’s wicketkeeping techniques helped him bag 829 dismissals behind the stumps, only behind Mark Boucher and Adam Gilchrist. But he clearly dominates wicketkeeping stats in the shortest format. So, let’s take a look at the top three cricketers with most dismissals as wicketkeeper in T20Is.

3. 64 dismissals – Jos Buttler

England’s current white-ball captain has 64 dismissals from as a wicketkeeper in 86 T20I innings. Buttler has taken 54 catches and 10 dismissals as stumpings. He leads the dismissals chart for England across formats with 421 wickets from 321 international games. The 32-year-old star is at his peak and has plenty left in his tank to top this chart in the future.

2. 87 dismissals – Quinton de Kock

South African star has 87 dismissals from just 76 T20I innings and over 500 across formats in international cricket. Out of those 87 dismissals, 71 has come as catches, more than anyone in T20I cricket. He is closing on MS Dhoni’s record for the most dismissals as a wicketkeeper in T20I history. However, like Buttler, de Kock is yet to bag five dismissals in an innings in T20Is.

1. 91 dismissals – MS Dhoni

Despite playing his last T20I in February in 2019, Dhoni dominates this chart with 91 dismissals from 97 T20I innings. Dhoni took 57 catches while wicketkeeping in T20Is and has 34 stumpings, the most in the format. Dhoni, at the age of 37, became the first cricketer to take five catches while wicketkeeping against England in the third T20I in Bristol against England in July 2018.
