Bowlers are always on the lookout to pick wickets in order to help their side get ahead in the contest and shift momentum. However, in Test cricket, bowlers are usually on their toes as they have to bowl lengthy spells throughout the innings and need to keep their fitness levels at the top. Racking a five-wicket haul is not everyone’s cup of tea but there have been bowlers who have achieved this milestone on numerous occasions. In this list, we take a look at the top three players with the most fifers for India in Tests-

3. Harbhajan Singh – 25

One of the finest spinners India has ever produced, Harbhajan Singh stands third on the list with the most fifers for the national side. He has 25 five-wicket hauls to his name. Harbhajan may not be a great turner of the ball with his spin but the bowler understands the dynamics of the red-ball format very well and was lethal in his heyday

2. Ravichandran Ashwin – 30

Veteran spinner Ashwin holds the potential to get vital breakthroughs and he has been one of the most consistent performers for the nation. Ashwin has 30 fifers under his belt thus far and is just five behind the great Anil Kumble. While the veteran offie has the potential to surpass Kumble, it is still a tricky number to get ahead.

1. Anil Kumble – 35

The former spin wizard Anil Kumble was regarded as an exceptional player with the ball. Kumble holds the record of most fifers for the national side with as many as 35 to his name. While Ashwin is just five behind the great Kumble, it remains to be seen if the former could displace him before calling it quits.
