Most runs in a three-match ODI bilateral series

It is very difficult to keep the momentum going for any team in the three-match ODI series and there have been many instances of the sides losing plot after being in a position of strength. Just like collective performances, even individual performances need consistency when it comes to a three One Day International series. Only a few batters have managed to maintain consistency in such close series and without further ado, here’s a look at three of them.

3. Quinton de Kock vs India – 342

Quinton de Kock has been a world-class batter for South Africa and has single-handedly taken the game away from the opponents. He looked unstoppable during the home ODI series against India in the 2013-14 season when he finished with 342 runs from three games scoring centuries in all the matches. He was deservingly named the Player of the Series.

2. Imrul Kayes vs Zimbabwe – 349

Promising Bangladesh batter Imrul Kayes takes the second spot in this category. The southpaw had scored runs consistently during the 2018 ODI series against Zimbabwe that eventually helped the Asian side blank their African rivals 3-0. Kayes finished with 349 runs, registering scores of 144, 90 and 115.

1. Babar Azam vs West Indies; Shubman Gill vs New Zealand – 360

Babar Azam has gone on to emerge as Pakistan’s best white-ball batter of this era and currently occupies the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings for batters. The Pakistan skipper scored 360 runs during a three-match bilateral ODI series against the West Indies back in 2016. Babar went on to register centuries in all three matches at an outstanding average of 120 as the Men in Green whitewashed the Caribbeans in the home series in the UAE.

India’s emerging batter Shubman Gill also occupies the pole position on this elite list. He achieved this feat in the just-concluded home series against New Zealand where the Kiwis were blanked 3-0. The elegant opener finished the series with 360 runs to his name including a double century and a century. While Gill scored a blistering 149-ball 208 in the opening game, he backed it up with a spectacular 112 runs from 78 deliveries in the final match
