Most sixes in international cricket

Cricket, in the modern era, is becoming increasingly batting-friendly with bigger bats, shorter boundaries, and batters getting more luxury to play innovative shots among many other things. Bowlers, on the other hand, have to play with little freedom, in terms of rules.

Rules such as the free hit, per-over bouncer restrictions, and field restrictions, among many other things, have added to the bowler’s disadvantage over the last few years, resulting in batters hitting more boundaries and scoring more runs than ever before over.

Over the last few years, the cricketing fraternity has witnessed some huge totals and broken records that were unbroken for many years and set new heights that once seemed unprecedented. And time and again, fans are left to wonder if cricket is becoming a batter’s game and if something needs to change. On that note, here are batters with the most sixes in international cricket:

3.Shahid Afridi (Pakistan) – 476

One of the biggest hitters and the most attacking batters of the game, Shahid Afridi was one of those players the opposition wanted to get rid of as early as possible. The former Pakistan captain hit 476 sixes in 524 international games, along with 1053 fours. Afridi played from 1996 to 2018 and also scored over 11,000 runs with 11 centuries and 51 half-centuries with a strike rate of 114.14 across all three formats.

2.Rohit Sharma (India) – 477

Rohit Sharma is one of the strongest hitters at the moment in the international circuit. He has hit 477 sixes in 427 international games, along with 1,504 fours. Since his India debut in 2007, he has scored 16,000 runs at an average of 43.36 and a strike rate of 85.91 with 41 centuries and 86 half-centuries. He also has the time on his side to hit another 77 sixes and move to the top on the list.

1.Chris Gayle (West Indies) – 553

Former West Indies skipper Chris Gayle is one of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball. His ability to hit monstrous sixes on the leg-side is a sight that the fielding team hates. He has hit a whopping 553 sixes in 483 matches, along with 2,332 fours, and also scored 19,593 runs at an average of 37.97 and a strike rate of 77.22, with 42 centuries and 105 half-centuries. He last played an international game in November 2021.
