Most T20I half-centuries in a calendar year

Records are meant to be broken, many have said and that is exactly how some of the crickets have been doing. Every year pushing themselves, few of the cricketers have been firing all cylinders in the hope that their names will be associated in the history books. Such is the case in the shortest format, where in some players have displayed sensational innings either with the bat or with the ball. When it comes to the batting aspect, quite a few players have registered massive numbers in terms of scoring half-centuries in a calendar year. In this piece, we take a look at the top three players who have scored the most in a given year-

3. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam (PAK) – 10

The Pakistan opener duo are known to be two of the best batters in recent times and the way by which they construct their well-built partnerships. Moreover, Rizwan this year (2022) has amassed 10 half-centuries to his name in 25 innings which is a massive record in itself. Whereas, Babar Azam achieved this feat last year in 2021 in 26 innings.

2. Suryakumar Yadav (IND) – 11

Suryakumar Yadav has been exceptional with the willow this year and has been in the headlines almost all the year. The threat he adds coming in the middle-order has been vital for the Men in Blue. Furthermore, the flamboyant right-hander has scored as many as 11 half-centuries this year in 31 innings played and a total run tally of 1164 that includes two centuries.

1. Mohammad Rizwan (PAK) – 13

The Pakistan right-hander has a knack for making it to the record books with the national side. The batter last year etched his name in history as he recorded the most number of 50+ scores by a player in a calendar year. In 2021, he amassed a total of 13 half-centuries in mere 26 games with total runs of 1326 and a high score of 104*.
