Most T20I wins by teams after T20 World Cup 2021

The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 that was held in the UAE in October-November last year saw Australia winning their maiden title by getting the better of New Zealand in the final. They stunned one and all and were not even considered to be the favourites heading into the tournament.

India were ousted in the group stages after heavy defeats against arch-rivals Pakistan and New Zealand respectively and the wins against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia were inconsequential. However, since then they have gone to become a vastly improved side in the shortest format. Here’s a look at two more of them who have proved a point after T20 WC 2021.

3. Pakistan (6)

Pakistan occupy the third position on this list. They were the firm favourites to lift the T20 World Cup last year in their own backyard as they remained undefeated in the group stages that included an emphatic 10-wicket victory over arch-rivals India.

However, a shocking counter-attack from Australia’s Matthew Wade in the semis brought curtains down on their excellent campaign. Nonetheless, the Men in Green have gone on to register six T20I victories to their belt since then.

They beat Bangladesh 3-0 in an away bilateral series in November last year before blanking the West Indies 3-0 at home in December. Pakistan lost the one-off T20I at home against Australia.

2. Australia (7)

Australia occupy the second spot in this category as they have been consistent in this format of the game ever since their world title win last November. Since the 2021 T20 World Cup, the Australians registered seven victories in the shortest format including a 4-1 win against Sri Lanka at home in February, beating Pakistan in a one-off contest in April and defeating Sri Lanka 2-1 in an away series in June. The reigning T20 world champions only lost twice in this format since November 2021.

1. India (16)

India occupy the ‘Numero Uno’ spot and remain the most consistent side in the shortest format after the conclusion of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue have gone on to register 16 T20I victories including 3-0 whitewashes against New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka y. Their home series against South Africa was tied at 2-2. The 2007 T20 world champions then went on register away series wins against Ireland (2-0) and England (2-1) respectively and have also taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match series against the West Indies.
