Most wickets by a spinner in Tests at a venue

Spin or slow bowlers play a vital role in Test cricket. As the pitch gets slow and rough over five days, spinners tend to obtain more turns from the pitch and try to scalp wickets for their side. The role of a spin bowler tends to change as per the suitability of a track. However, there have been two bowlers in the international circuit, who have been successful on a particular wicket, no matter what the conditions are. On that note, let us take a look at spinners having the most wickets at a particular wicket.

Rangana Herath (84 wickets at Colombo SSC)

Known for his disciplined bowling, Rangana Herath scalped a total of 84 wickets at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Herath bamboozled several prominent batting orders at the venue and was a very difficult customer to deal with on that wicket.

Rangana Herath (102 wickets at Galle)

Known for producing turning tracks, Herath brought his A-game whenever he played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. The left-arm spinner has scalped a total of 102 wickets at that venue and finished his career after scalping a total of 433 wickets in Test cricket.

Muttiah Muralitharan (111 wickets at Galle)

Another Sri Lanka spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan also used the Galle wicket to his advantage. The legendary spinner grabbed a total of 111 wickets at the venue and gave some of the most mesmerizing performances to win the match for his team Sri Lanka at that venue.

Muttiah Muralitharan (117 wickets at Kandy)

Muralitharan also comes second in this elite list after scalping a total of 117 wickets at his home turf Kandy. The legendary spinner played a lot of cricket at his home ground and he used that to his full advantage after giving some match-winning performances for his country at that venue.

Muttiah Muralitharan (166 wickets at Colombo SSC)

Muralitharan continues to dominate this elite list as he sits right at the top after grabbing a total of 166 wickets at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Colombo. It must be noted that Muralitharan is still the highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game after grabbing a total of 800 wickets in just 133 Test matches.
