Most wickets in India-Zimbabwe ODI matches

The Indian team recently finished off the West Indies assignment, and their next stint before the Asia Cup will be a tour of Zimbabwe for three ODIs. India has had an upper hand over Zimbabwe as the Men in Blue have won 51 of the 63 fixtures between the two teams. On the other hand, Zimbabwe has won only 10 games, with two being a tie.

The India-Zimbabwe rivalry has been longstanding. The bowlers who have stood out from the lot have now retired from the game of cricket. But during their playing days, they put forth a terrific time ahead of the opponents in order to make a mark and impact on the game. Thus, let us look at the players who have the most number of wickets in India-Zimbabwe ODI matches-

Anil Kumble- 34

Anil Kumble was possibly India’s greatest match-winner in history. He was an unconventional leg-break googly spinner who did not turn the ball much, which made him different than Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan. His success in one-day internationals (ODIs) was comparable to his success in Tests; he finished with 337 wickets in the 50-over format, and his best bowling figures of 6/12 came against the West Indies in 1993. Against Zimbabwe, Kumble has the third-most number of wickets, tallying 34.

Heath Streak- 39

Streak was an excellent bowler who frequently performed alone to endorse a bowling unit that appeared to be fragile. Even on the most placid pitches, he could move the ball move and seam. Streak is arguably the best pace bowler Zimbabwe has ever produced, as evidenced by his 239 wickets in 189 ODIs. He was as destructive against India in the ODIs and managed to scalp 39 wickets in the games.

Ajit Agarkar- 45

Even after retirement, Agarkar stands out on India’s achievements list. He is India’s third-highest wicket-taker in the ODI format, and also the quickest player to reach 50 ODI wickets. The ODI bowler Agarkar was more well-liked than the Test bowler Agarkar. Agarkar played first-class cricket for a short while before making his ODI debut and impressing everyone in his very first game. Speaking of his campaigns against Zimbabwe, Agarkar is the top wicket-taker with a total of 45 scalps under his belt.
