In the 50-over format of the sport, bowlers usually need to keep their endurance, spirits and their overall bowling game up as the demands of the format is such. Picking up wickets early on in the innings during the powerplay undoubtedly helps the side restrict the rival batters from going overboard in their innings and scoring big. 3. Fazalhaq Farooqi – 9 wickets

The Afghanistan bowler has been terrific for the side and has decked up the rival side’s top order on numerous occasions. The 22-year-old sensation has scalped nine wickets in just 10 innings during the powerplay of the contest, which brings him to stand third on the list of most wickets taken in the powerplay in the ODIs this year.

2. Trent Boult and Matt Henry- 10

The second spot is shared by two New Zealanders Trent Boult and Matt Henry. While the latter has amassed 10 wickets in as many innings this year, Boult has attained those numbers in just six matches. Boult has been accurate, consistent, and lethal for the national side across all the formats, which is why he has got sensational numbers in terms of wickets.

1. Mohammed Siraj – 15

Mohammad Siraj tops the list of most wickets taken in powerplay in the ODIs in 2022. Having played 14 innings, the 28-year-old right-arm pacer produced lethal spells that handed him 15 wickets within the powerplay. The Men in Blue have played numerous matches this year and Siraj has got opportunities for the side. The RCB player has displayed his qualities for the side and handed major breakthroughs early on in the match.
