Mukesh Choudhary, Mohsin Khan doubtful for IPL 2023

India’s young domestic talents Mukesh Choudhary and Mohsin Khan are likely to miss the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Choudhary and Mohsin have suffered injuries and are currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Mukesh and Mohsin were bought by Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants at their base price of INR 20 lakhs in the IPL 2022 player auction. They produced impressive performances with the ball in their maiden season itself as Choudhary scalped 16 wickets from 13 matches at an impressive average of 26.50 while Mohsin picked 14 from nine matches at an average of 14.07.

According to CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan, the franchise does not have any hope for Choudhary’s return to the team. Notably, the 26-year-old was the standout bowler of CSK last year alongside Dwayne Bravo who has also picked 16 wickets from 10 matches.

“We are waiting on Mukesh but we do not have much hope. He was one of our bowling mainstays last year. It will be unfortunate if he misses out,” Viswanathan told Cricbuzz.

The CSK pacer suffered a back injury in December last year. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He is playing at the domestic level for almost seven years but has played only 13 first-class matches.

Meanwhile, he has played a few List A games for his home state Maharashtra after his impressive spell in IPL. Mohsin, on the other hand, was one of the star performers of the LSG last year. He helped the to make it to the playoffs in his first-ever IPL season itself.

Chennai Super Kings will kickstart their IPL 2023 campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns against Delhi Capitals on April 1 in Lucknow.
