Shoaib Malik

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has found himself in trouble as his contract with Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has reportedly been terminated. This move comes after Malik’s controversial performance in a recent BPL 2024 match against Khulna Tigers.

Malik’s lackluster display raised concerns, with fans questioning his commitment to the game. He bowled three no-balls in a single over, conceding 18 runs, and his batting efforts yielded only five runs from six balls in the death overs. Social media was filled with criticism, with many speculating about the veteran’s intentions.

Fortune Barishal took a drastic step by terminating Shoaib Malik’s contract, citing suspicions of “fixing.” The move was confirmed by Mizanur Rahman, the team owner, as shared by a tweet from a Bangladesh-based journalist.

This recent development adds another layer of controversy to Shoaib Malik’s already eventful week, marked by his third marriage with Sana Javed, which triggered a social media backlash. The termination of his BPL contract further intensifies the scrutiny of the former captain.
