Coldplay singer Chris Martin joins Sachin Tendulkar’s foundation for 5th anniversary celebration

On January 22, 2025, the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) commemorated its fifth anniversary with an intimate gathering at the Bombay Club in Mumbai. The event was graced by Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, who is currently in India for the band’s “Music of the Spheres” tour. Martin, dressed in a sleek all-black ensemble paired with white sneakers, engaged in a private conversation with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, expressing admiration for the foundation’s dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged children through health, education, and sports initiatives.

The STF, established by Sachin and his wife, Dr. Anjali Tendulkar, has made significant strides over the past five years, impacting over 100,000 young lives across India. The foundation collaborates with more than 15 NGO partners to implement its programs, focusing on creating equal opportunities for children and building a brighter future for them.

This celebration also marked the first official engagement of Sara Tendulkar as the Director of the foundation. Reflecting on her family’s commitment to philanthropy, Sara shared, “Growing up, I was always inspired by my family, who shaped my understanding of the power of giving. I had the opportunity to witness the Foundation’s work and see the spark of hope that lights up in the lives of not just the children but in entire families.” She expressed her enthusiasm for continuing her parents’ legacy, aiming to “light up a world of possibilities for children who are the future.”

A short film showcased during the event highlighted the ongoing efforts and achievements of the STF, emphasizing the transformative impact of their initiatives on young dreamers. The film celebrated the foundation’s collaborations and the collective efforts to empower children through strategic partnerships.

Sachin Tendulkar reflected on the foundation’s journey, stating, “When I walked back to the pavilion one last time, I had an inkling in my mind that my innings was far from over.” He spoke about the vision he and Anjali had for helping the less privileged and providing young dreamers with the support they needed to realize their potential. Expressing confidence in Sara’s leadership, he added, “The journey is in full swing and with Sara leading the way now, I am confident that STF will continue to transform millions of dreams into reality and give wings to the doers.”

Chris Martin’s presence at the event underscored the global recognition of the foundation’s efforts. His attendance not only highlighted the cross-cultural connections fostered through music and sports but also emphasized the universal appeal of philanthropic endeavors aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities.
