Fans chant ‘Sachin-Sachin!’ during England vs South Africa clash in Mumbai

The iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai finally hosted its first game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday, October 21 as England and South Africa locked horns in Match 20 of the tournament. The Proteas emerged victorious in the match as they crushed the defending champions by a massive margin of 229 runs.

Apart from the dominant display on the pitch by South Africa, a heartwarming moment was also witnessed in the crowd during the match. A video of fans in the Wankhede Stadium chanting the name of the legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been going viral all over social media.

Tendulkar was born in Mumbai and played a lot of cricket in his hometown. He also went on to realise his dream of winning the ODI World Cup at the same venue as India triumphed over Sri Lanka in 2011 to clinch their second ODI World Cup. Hence the fans never fail to celebrate the legacy of the great man by chanting his name during every game played in the city.
