Highest individual ODI scores by England batter

The most significant of those came in the third ODI of the series when Ben Stokes rewrote history and record books both with a sensational assault that left New Zealand gasping for breath. His 182 now stands as the highest individual ODI score by an England batter. On that note, here are the top three:

3) Alex Hales’ 171 Runs against Pakistan

Alex Hales played a memorable innings on August 30, 2016, at Nottingham, smashing an impressive 171 runs off just 122 balls. He struck 22 fours and 4 sixes during his innings. England emerged victorious in this match by a comprehensive margin of 169 runs. Batting first, England posted a record-breaking total of 444 runs in their allotted 50 overs, with Hales being the standout performer. Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, and Jos Buttler also contributed quick fifties to propel England’s score to 444. Pakistan faltered in their chase, getting bundled out for 275 runs, resulting in a humiliating defeat.

2) Jason Roy’s 180 Runs against Australia

Jason Roy displayed his batting prowess on January 14, 2018, at Melbourne, scoring a magnificent 180 runs off 151 balls. His innings featured 16 fours and 5 sixes. In this match, Australia batted first and set a target of 305 runs, courtesy of a splendid century by Aaron Finch, who scored 107 runs. However, England comfortably chased down the target with five wickets in hand, largely due to Jason Roy’s exceptional century

On September 13, 2023, at The Oval, Ben Stokes showcased an exceptional batting display, scoring an impressive 182 runs off just 124 balls. His innings included 15 fours and 9 sixes. England emerged victorious in this match, defeating New Zealand by a massive margin of 181 runs. Apart from Stokes, Dawid Malan also contributed significantly with a brilliant knock of 98 runs. England posted a formidable total of 368 runs while batting first, and New Zealand could only manage 187 runs in their chase.
