IND-W vs ENG-W: Top performers from T20I series
The three-match T20 international series between India Women and England Women is done and dusted and it’s the English side who have emerged victorious by a margin of 2-1. All three games took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where the visitors won the opening two fixtures before the home side sealing a consolation win in the third. A few players from either side performed consistently in all these matches, which feature in this article.
Let’s take a look at the top performers from the T20I series between IND-W and ENG-W:
1.Nat Sciver-Brunt
England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt played only the first two games of the series but had an impact. She ended the series as the highest run-getter for which she also won the Player of the Series award. The right-handed batter scored 93 runs at an average of 46.50. She grabbed the Player of the Match award for her knock of 77 off 53 in the opening fixture. Sciver-Brunt also managed to pick up two wickets in as many T20Is.
2.Danielle Wyatt
Opening batter Danielle Wyatt finished the series as the second-highest run-scorer. The right-handed opener scored 75 runs in two innings at an average of 37.50. Wyatt played a crucial knock of 75 off just 47 which included eight fours and two maximums in the series opener. She stitched an all-important 138-run stand with Sciver-Brunt for the third wicket helping her side reach a huge total of 197/6.
3.Sophie Ecclestone
Sophie Ecclestone ended the series as the joint-highest wicket-taker. The slow left-arm spinner snared seven scalps in three innings at an average of 10.14 and a strike-rate of 9.71. Ecclestone’s economy rate was just 6.26
with the best figures of 3/15. The spinner picked up three wickets in the first game, and two each in the final two T20 internationals.
4.Renuka Singh
India seamer Renuka Singh was the joint-highest wicket-taker with Ecclestone. The right-arm bowler snared seven scalps in three games at an average of 10.85 and a strike-rate of 10.28. Her economy rate was 6.33 with the best bowling performance of 3/27. Like Ecclestone, Renuka also picked up three wickets in the opening T20I, and two each in the final two.
5.Shreyanka Patil
India spinner Shreyanka Patil was the joint-second-highest wicket-taker. The off-spinner took five wickets in three outings at an average of 13.80 and a strike-rate of 10.00. Her economy rate was 8.28 with the best figures of 3/19. Notably, Patil grabbed the Player of the Match award in the final match which India won by five wickets courtesy of her economical spell of 3/19.
