Jos Buttler has never looked so clueless: Harbhajan Singh

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh voiced his disappointment following England’s dismal outing so far in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. The former off-spinner’s comments came after England’s humiliating eight-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 26.

Harbhajan questioned Jos Buttler’s captaincy and the decision of team management to bring back Ben Stokes out of retirement. He pointed out that the all-rounder has failed to impress in the matches he has played so far.

“Jos Buttler has never looked so clueless. Ben Stokes was asked to come out of retirement ahead of the World Cup but got injured. He has failed to make a significant impact in the matches he has played,” Harbhajan Singh said in a YouTube video.

He also said that it seemed England forgot how to bat in the white-ball format. He added that England looks far from a champion side in the ongoing competition.

“England loved to chase in white-ball cricket and had batters who only dealt in fours and sixes. However, forget about boundaries; they aren’t even sure of how to take singles. It seems as if they have forgotten how to play this format. They haven’t looked like world champions,” the 43-year-old added.

Harbhajan went on to say that he does not feel like England will be able to break India’s unbeaten run when they lock horns at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 29. He also stated that the Men in Blue are likely to play three spinners at the spin-friendly Lucknow pitch.

“England’s next match is against India. I don’t think they are capable of beating India, and they will have to deal with yet another loss. I feel it might be a spin-friendly surface, and we could see India play three spinners,” the former cricketer concluded.
