LSG vs DC Review: Kuldeep, McGurk power Delhi to their second win

Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their second win of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) as they beat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in Match 26 on Friday, April 12 at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After opting to bat first, Lucknow posted a good score of 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs riding on a half-century from Ayush Badoni.

In reply, Delhi chased down the target in 18.1 overs courtesy of a half-century from Jake Fraser-McGurk and a brilliant knock of 41* (24) by captain Rishabh Pant. After the win, Delhi moved to the second-last position on the points table with four points from six matches. While Lucknow retained the fourth spot with six points from five matches.

Ayush Badoni (55* off 35)

The 24-year-old walked in to bat with his team reeling at 77/5 in 9.3 overs. However, he bailed his team out of trouble with a magnificent knock of 55 off 35 balls, smashing five fours and a six. He got involved in a crucial 73-run stand with Arshad Khan off just 42 balls to help LSG finish on 167/7 in 20 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav (3/20)

The left-arm spinner came on to bowl the eighth over of the innings and immediately struck for Delhi getting the big scalps of Marcus Stoinis (8 off 10) and Nicholas Pooran (0 off 1). Kuldeep further dismissed LSG captain KL Rahul (39 off 22) in his second over to leave Lucknow in all sorts of trouble in the middle overs. He finally finished with figures of 3/20 in four overs and was adjudged Player of the Match.

Lucknow will next lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 28 on Sunday, April 14 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. On the other hand, Delhi will next take on Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, April 17 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
