Mumbai Indians unveil new jersey ahead of 17th edition

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have unveiled their new jersey ahead of the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. Renowned designer Monisha Jaising conceptualized the new kit as she drew inspiration from the vibrant hues of Mumbai Indians’ iconic blue and gold colors. In the video released by the franchise, it is seen that the fans are wearing the jerseys with the labels of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan and the newly-appointed captain Hardik Pandya on the back.

Speaking about the new design, Monisha mentioned that the jersey defines the spirit of Mumbai and the franchise’s relentless energy, diversity, and undying optimism. She explained that her goal was to capture the design that would inspire both players and the supporters who would be wearing it.

“The spirit of Mumbai & MI has always been a force to be reckoned with, and it lies in the relentless energy, diversity, undying optimism, the heart and the hard work that drives its favourite team and fans. It is this very essence that I have tried to capture in the design, inspiring both players and fans, knowing that they carry with them the heart of Mumbai and Mumbai Indians,” Monisha said in an official statement.

Meanwhile, the franchise has also launched its membership packages, across multiple tiers for fans across all age groups. Fans wanting to buy gold membership will be required to pay INR 2,199 while the silver and junior package is available for INR 699. The official members will be getting early access to home match tickets, along with merchandise and access to various events.

When it comes to on-field action, Mumbai will begin their campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will also mark the return of Hardik Pandya, who left the 2022 champions to join his former franchise for an undisclosed fee. Soon after joining, Mumbai also announced him as the captain, as Rohit will continue as a batter in the team.
