RCB vs SRH Review: Hyderabad topple Bengaluru in a run-feast night

Royal Challengers Bengaluru took on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 30 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first. Travis Head (102 off 41) and Abhishek Sharma (34 off 22) orchestrated a sensational powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen (67 off 31) unleashed mayhem in Bengaluru while Aiden Markram’s (32* off 17) and Abdul Samad’s (37* off 10) onslaught saw SRH post the highest-ever total of IPL of 287/3.

For RCB, Virat Kohli (42 off 20) and Faf du Plessis (62 off 28) provided an ideal start but failed to keep going. Debutant Will Jacks (7 off 4) was unlucky to be run out while Rajat Patidar (9 off 5) succumbed to scoreboard pressure. While Saurav Chauhan departed without scoring, Dinesh Karthik (83 off 35) and Mahipal Lomror (19 off 11) provided RCB with a ray of hope. By the time Anuj Rawat (25* off 14) arrived, Karthik was waging a lone battle as SRH thwarted RCB by 25 runs.

Travis Head dictated terms at Chinnaswamy stadium against RCB. He reached his half-century in just 20 deliveries within the powerplay and fetched 18 runs off Lockie Ferguson’s over. He smashed nine boundaries and eight towering sixes and ended with a strike rate of 248.78.

Pat Cummins (3 for 43)

Pat Cummins led from the front and delivered with the ball for SRH. He claimed the crucial wicket of Faf du Plessis who was set for an onslaught. He then sent Chauhan packing and picked up Mahipal Lomror who was partnering with Karthik.
