RR vs GT Review: Gill, Rashid shine in Gujarat’s thrilling run-chase

Rajasthan Royals took on Gujarat Titans in Match 24 of the Indian Premier League 2024 on Wednesday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. GT won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shimron Hetmyer (13* off 15) smoked some boundaries in the end as RR posted a challenging target of 196 runs.

For GT, Sai Sudarshan (35 off 29) and Shubman Gill (72 off 44) provided a decent start but Matthew Wade (4 off 6) and Abhinav Manohar (1 off 2) failed to contribute. Vijay Shankar (16 off 10) continued his poor form but Rahul Tewatia (22 off 11) and Shahrukh Khan (14 off 8) swam against the tide. But it was Rashid Khan (24* off 11) who breached RR’s fortress and handed GT a three-wicket win.

Rashid Khan displayed nerves of steel at the crunch moment. He walked when GT was down and out and needed a miracle. With 15 needed off the final over, he smashed a boundary off the final ball and took GT over the line. He garnered 17 runs off the final over and turned the match for GT.

Rashid Khan utilized the pitch to its significant best. While all the GT bowlers leaked runs, he resisted with his variations. He got the priced wicket of Buttler and thereon showed his vintage glimpses. His prowess on the field was further highlighted by the fact that he conceded just one boundary in his four overs
