Sachin Tendulkar’s statue to be unveiled at Wankhede on November 1

Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar’s life-size statue will be unveiled at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 1, the eve of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka. During the ceremony, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will be present. Tendulkar, who holds the record of 15,921 Test runs and a stunning 18,426 ODI runs, will also attend the unveiling ceremony.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will install the statue at the Sachin Tendulkar stand in the stadium. The statue is an honour for the cricketer’s 50 years of his life. Master Blaster celebrated his 50th birthday on 24th April 2023.

For the unreversed, Tendulkar bid farewell to the sport at his home stadium, Wankhede. The right-handed batter played his 200th and final Test match at Wankhede in November 2013, capping a brilliant two-decade career. With 664 international games under his belt, the 50-year-old has scored 34,357 runs.
