Shafali Verma opens up on finishing games for her team

Shafali Verma

Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the WPL 2024 against the UP Warriorz by nine wickets, chasing down a target of 120 runs in 14.3 overs. JioCinema and Sports18 experts Parthiv Patel and Mona Meshram analyzed the strong Delhi performance and Shafali Verma, who was the top-scorer for Delhi with 64 runs including four sixes, gave an exclusive interview on Match Center Live.

Shafali Verma spoke about her finding form once again – “I have seen bad days when the ball wasn’t hitting my bat well and I wasn’t able to score runs. From that, I learned that on days when you are hitting the ball well, you should try to complete the innings. That bad time has taught me a lot. So, on days when I am connecting the ball, I want to make sure I complete the innings and my team wins.”

Verma on opponents figuring out her playing style – “There’s a big difference now from when I started. When I debuted, nobody knew how I play and where I hit the ball. Now, there are so many video analysts, they see every ball to analyze my game. Now since that, they know that I have to figure out how I change that and improve. It’s a mind game, and if I’m good mentally, I feel I can score in every match.”
