Shubman Gill begins practicing in nets ahead of India vs Pakistan game
Star India batter Shubman Gill has landed in Ahmedabad ahead of the highly anticipated fixture India vs Pakistan fixture to be played on Saturday, October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The 24-year-old was diagnosed with dengue fever ahead of India’s opening fixture against Australia in Chennai and was under the supervision of the medical team.
However, ahead of the all-important game against Pakistan, there’s good news for the Indian fans as Gill has begun practicing in the nets. Images of Gill’s practice have gone viral all over social media. Despite his good progress, his participation in the India-Pakistan game is still uncertain. The team management will not be willing to rush him back into the playing XI considering the length of the tournament.
Notably, the Indian opener is in sensational form this year as he’s the leading run scorer in ODIs in 2023. The right-handed batter has amassed 1230 runs in 20 innings at an average of 72.35 with five hundreds and five fifties to his name. Earlier in the year, he also became the eighth male cricketer to score a double hundred in ODIs. Gill also smacked a remarkable 208 off 149 vs New Zealand in Hyderabad on January 18.
The team management would hope that the batting star gets fit in time for the Pakistan game. He boasts a phenomenal record at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Gill enjoys batting at the venue as he scored a T20I and Test century at the stadium earlier this year. Furthermore, he plundered runs for fun batting at the same venue for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023.
